Jment Lim lowered his head and remained silent for a while, and said, “I think they haven’t really understood life, don’t know why they don’t awe, don’t know why they don’t cherish, this is a pitiful thing.”
Jment Lim then talked about his childhood. When he was young, he saw a little white dog at his friend’s house. It was very cute. His friend named it “Snowball”.
Every time he went to his friend’s house, Jment Lim would play with it for a while, and his feelings would grow very deep. A few years later, “Snowball” grew up and became pregnant. Everyone knew that they were very happy and stared at her belly every day, guessing what color of the unborn puppy was. Finally, after a few months, “Snowball” gave birth, which turned out to be a piebald. Unfortunately, the second day after the delivery of “Snowball”, it accidentally died due to ingestion of toxic substances. Jment Lim and his friends grieved for a long time, after all, they were playmates from small to large.
After “Snowball” left, they continued to take care of its puppy, still named it “Snowball”, and agreed that its child would also be called “Snowball” in the future. In this way, “Snowball” will always exist in his friend’s house.
Jment Lim said that in fact at that time they all felt that “Snowball” did not leave. “The piebald puppy was its bloodline and the best gift it gave us. Maybe from that time on, I began to understand life. Some things later became more and more clear what this thing is, that is-inheritance, the true meaning of life lies in inheritance.”
Sometimes, when we trace the origin of life, we will involuntarily marvel: Life is the greatest masterpiece of the earth in 4.5 billion years! Think about it, which planet has life in the exploration of the universe so far? Only the earth is the cradle of life, and the first organic matter and cell appeared on the earth, evolved to vertebrates, dinosaurs, birds, apes, and then to humans. When a person knows where he comes from, he has roots, he will not be at a loss, and he will have no wandering; but when he has to face the final demise of his life, his heart is in an absolute panic. In the past, many large families would build genealogies, set up ancestral halls, open branches and leaves, and shine on the lintel. People of the same family, no matter how distant relatives are, always belong to the family even without speaking two words, and they have the friendship to help the light; while the people in the family have the sense of mission of “make one’s ancestors illustrious” because of the inheritance of blood, passing on from generation to generation, Chinese history has emerged with many brilliant figures, which constitute a unique cultural phenomenon in the Chinese ethical society.
Generation after generation of blood flows, generation after generation of history, generation after generation of cultural precipitation, generation after generation of stories and legends, the inheritance of life allows us to find the meaning of being alive, supporting us to overcome all the hardships and difficulties of life, and finally climb to an unreachable summit. Whether you believe it or not, every life coming to this world is valuable. Everyone is a gift, a miracle, and a glory. Jment Lim also told us a metaphor about life, which comes from Buddhism.
He said that a piece of driftwood was floating in the vast sea, with a small hole in the driftwood; there was a big turtle hidden in the sea all year round, and it took only 10,000 years to float on the surface of the sea to breathe; one day, when the turtle just showed its head and exhaled, the driftwood just floated over, and the turtle just reached into the small hole on the driftwood. What are the odds? The rare life and the rare person are just like turtles and driftwood.
